Warfaze × Michael Jackson Tribute: Capturing the Night Through My Lens

31 July 2026 | Hall of Fame, BICC, Dhaka

Some events are difficult to describe with words. They are better remembered through the images, sounds and moments that happened on stage.

Warfaze’s Tribute to Michael Jackson was one of those nights.

The concert brought together Warfaze’s live performance, dancers, lighting, LED visuals and a spectacular holographic illusion of Michael Jackson. I had the opportunity to capture the event and turn that experience into a cinematic aftermovie.

My Role: Cinematography & Editing

My responsibility on this project was to capture the concert from a cinematic perspective and then shape the footage into the final aftermovie.

For a live concert, there is no second take. The performance happens once, the lighting changes continuously, and the most important moments can last only a few seconds.

That makes concert cinematography very different from a controlled production.

I focused on capturing the energy of the performers, the movement of the dancers, the atmosphere of the venue, audience reactions and the visual details happening across the stage.

The goal was not simply to document the concert, but to make the viewer feel the energy of being there.

Capturing the Holographic Moment

One of the biggest moments of the night was the surprise appearance of a holographic Michael Jackson.

The illusion was designed as a live stage experience. Michael appeared on the holographic screen, multiplied into several figures and then transitioned back into a live performance moment.

From a cinematography perspective, this was one of the most interesting parts of the show because the holographic illusion, lighting, performer and stage visuals had to exist together within the same frame.

The holography and visual production were handled by Studio Z BD, including the live visual layer and technical direction of the production.

Turning a Live Concert Into a Film

After the shoot, the next challenge was editing.

A live concert can contain hours of footage, but an aftermovie needs to tell the story in a much shorter amount of time.

I built the edit around the rhythm and energy of the performance, selecting shots that could communicate the scale of the concert while keeping the pacing dynamic.

The edit was shaped through:

  1. Shot selection
  2. Music-driven pacing
  3. Performance-based cutting
  4. Cinematic transitions
  5. Color grading
  6. Sound design

The idea was to create a visual journey rather than simply place one concert shot after another.

The Visual Production Behind the Show

What made the concert particularly interesting was how many different elements had to work together.

Lighting, LED, sound, video and choreography were handled by their respective crews, while the technical direction connected these departments into a single production. Studio Z also delivered the visual layer, including custom visual content, live VJ production, media-server systems and the holographic segment.

That coordination is what allowed the live performance and visual elements to feel like one experience instead of separate parts of a show.

More Than an Aftermovie

For me, this project was an opportunity to explore how concert cinematography and editing can transform a live experience into a cinematic story.

The camera captures what happened.

The edit decides what the audience remembers.

That is the part of event filmmaking I enjoy most—finding those few seconds inside a large production that carry the emotion and energy of the entire night.
